CITY TO HONOUR KOMPANY, SILVA

Premier League champions Manchester City have revealed that former skippers Vincent Kompany and David Silva would be honoured ahead of the Arsenal game on Saturday. It was disclosed earlier this month that the statues of both David Silva and Vincent Kompany would be unveiled before the current set of players take to the field to take on an Arsenal team with the two losses from two games.

Vincent Kompany was the Manchester City captain for several years and he led them to a lot of titles including four Premier League titles. The retired Belgian national team player is now back in his countryas the Anderlecht manager. Kompany left Manchester City two years ago and he was immediately snapped up by Anderlecht as a player/manager.The Ex-Manchester City defender has since become the Anderlecht manager solely as he has hung up his boots.

For David Silva, he took the armband when Kompany left Manchester City in the summer of 2019. He was the Manchester City skipper for just one season before returning back to his native Spain last summer. Silva has become a source of creativity for Real Sociedad in the Spanish La Liga.

Both Kompany and Silva contributed their own quota to the Premier League dominance enjoyed by City in the last decade and the club has moved to honour them for their services in those years.

The current crop of Manchester City would be looking to emulate the likes of David Silva and Vincent Kompany by creating another decade of Premier League dominance. The present crop of players won the Premier League title last season and they started the defence of that title with a 1-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur. The Citizens recovered from that loss with a 5-0 win over Norwich City in their second league game of the season. Manchester City will host Arsenal on Saturday in what’s their third game of the new season.
