Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany has sent a message of congratulations to the club after the Premier League title was confirmed. The Citizens are the newly crowned Premier League champions in place of Liverpool who won the competition last season.
Manchester City have won the Premier League title for the first time without Vincent Kompany who left the club at the end of his contract in the summer of 2019.
Vincent Kompany left Manchester City to take up the player/manager role at boyhood club Anderlecht and has since become a full-time manager with the Belgian top flight team.Kompany won the Premier League title in his last season at the Etihad Stadium in addition to winning the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup titles as City completed a clean sweep of all the domestic trophies on offer.
Manchester City struggled a great deal in the Premier League last season without the leadership and defensive qualities of Kompany as they lost their league title to rivals Liverpool but they have been able to reclaim the title thanks in part to the inspired signing of Ruben Dias from Benfica last summer.
Portuguese international Dias has taken up the position of the new leader at the back for Manchester City in place of former club skipper Vincent Kompany and he played a big role to ensure that the Premier League title returns to the Etihad Stadium. He also helped the club reach the Champions League final for the first time in history in addition to the Carabao Cup title.
Dias and City have a big chance to win the elusive Champions League title when they face Premier League rivals Chelsea in the final next weekend.
